Movies can be the ultimate source of entertainment and relaxation for most people. After a long day at work, many of us turn to our screens in search of an ultimate escape. There are all sorts of movies out there. However, one thing that is common about all movies is that they tend to teach us something or the other.

Movies can be a great source of valuable lessons if you know the right movies to watch. In this era, it is the easiest form of conveying a message to a large audience. While there are many movies out there that teach us all sorts of life lessons and entertain us at the same time, there are some gems that can also provide you with useful business lessons, if you pay close attention.

Read below as we discuss some Hollywood marvels that come with remarkable business lessons:

Joy

This movie stars Jennifer Lawrence as she portrays the life of Joy Mangano and how she manages to run her business. The story shows how Joy manages to become a successful businesswoman and inventor even after all the hardships she has to face. The story is enough to convince you of the fact that being a single mother isn’t that big a hurdle in your path to achieving what you truly desire.

You get to learn that no matter what life throws at you, you have it in you to take risks and ultimately achieve your goals no matter what.

The Pursuit of Happyness

This movie stars Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith in the portrayal of life events of Chris Gardner. Smith plays the role of a struggling father, salesman, and inventor who just can’t catch a break.

After all unsuccessful attempts to sell his inventions, he takes the risk of joining a company as an intern. He goes against all odds to prove himself worthy of the role, which ultimately lets him fulfill his dream.

The movie teaches the value of perseverance you need in a work environment. There will be times when you will feel that your business simply isn’t working out, but you will have to stick to it with complete dedication and determination if you seek genuine success.

Glengarry Glen Ross

Chances are that you might not have heard of this 1992 film by James Foley, but it gives you one of the most useful lessons in case you own business. Starring the legendary Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Alec Baldwin and many other significant names of the industry, this movie presses on the importance of sales in business.

The story is set in New York City where real estate agents are aggressively competing against each other to generate leads. Their success or failure in generating leads will ultimately decide whether they will be to retain their jobs or not.

There isn’t a business out there that could survive without good sales. So never compromise on it no matter what.

The Founder

This is the story of Ray Kroc, the founder of the popular fast-food chain in the country that is McDonald’s. The story shows Michael Keaton as Ray, a salesman who turned this simple fast food restaurant into one of the biggest giants of the fast-food industry.

When you start a business, you need to think about all the aspects and you have to look in the future. You need to be a visionary, a laborer, a mentor, and a billion other things. You have to look after your employees and deal with all of their issues. In short, you have to be able to be persistent in the face of all odds.

The Intern

The Intern is another great movie with a unique story and a bunch of valuable lessons for the work environment. The story shows Robert De Niro as a 70-year old widower who decides to join an online fashion site as an intern.

Anne Hathaway plays his supervisor at the office. Robert tries hard to adjust to a work environment that is surrounded by young blood. As time passes the two of them overcome all the obstacles of this newly formed strange dynamic.

The movie manages to teach the importance of giving value to your employees’ opinions no matter what their age, background or education may be. The movie also shows that no matter how tech-savvy or advance the youth maybe, the older generation has some valuable lessons to teach.

John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum was released on May 17, 2019.  Hollywood superstar, Keanu Reeves, thrilled audiences in the third installment of the John Wick series, and according to the reviews, this chapter did not disappoint. The first movie of the series debuted in 2014, while John Wick: Chapter 2, released in 2017.  The film is directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad, Shay Hatten, Chris Collins, and Marc Abrams. In the final film, John Wick is on the run from assassins because of a $14 million reward for his death.

John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum

Filming for John Wick 3 took place in New York City, Montreal, and Morocco. The film was produced by Lionsgate Summit Entertainment. Audiences and critics praised Reeves’ performance and hadpositive reviews on the intense fighting choreography. The film was overwhelmingly well-received by viewers and it actually bumped Avengers: End Game off of its three-week record holding position with approximately $57 million in ticket sales. John Wick Parabellum did better in the box office on its opening weekend than the previous two movies of the series. John Wick One had a $14.4 milliondollar opening weekend and Chapter 2 had a $30.4 million opening weekend. Overseas, the movie took in $92.2 million in its first week. Reeves’s star power drew out audiences to see him in a role that he fits like a glove.

The film stars some familiar faces including Halle Berry, Laurence Fishburne, Asia Kate Dillon, Lance Reddick, Mark Dacascos, Anjelica Huston, and Ian McShane. The preparation for the roles of the film was no small undertaking, and the cast took months to prepare for the fighting and action scenes. Halle Berry, who stars as an ally ‘Sofie,’ said she broke three ribs while training for her fight scenes. Halle Berry was a cast favorite among movie reviewers. According to a review of the film on Junkee, film critic Walter Chaw says, “What I love about John Wick 3 is that Berry’s character is allowed room to breathe in their action sequence. She has her own style and Wick is backgrounded. Last time I saw this generosity and respect in a big movie? FURY ROAD. At 52-years old, Berry was committed to several hours of cardio a day fivedays a week, intensive martial arts instruction, and hours practicing gunplay. Hollywood agent Vincent Cirrincione started managing Halle Berry when she was a young and budding actress. Vincent Cirrincione was raised by his two Italian grandparents. Much of his early life, he lived in his family’s row house on Avenue U in Marine Park. His grandparents, grocery store owners, had a profound impact on young Vincent and instilled in him a love of work and a thirst to succeed in life. Vincent Cirrincione never expected to be one of the top American producers and talent managers.  He is best known for his discovery of now-famous names such as Oscar award winner Halle Berry and Empire starlet Taraji Henson.

Although Halle Berry was ruling the Hollywood roust in the ’90s, reviews showed that audiences were thrilled and supportive to be seeing her back in her action-actress role. Some things truly do get better with age, and Halle Berry goes to show that at 52, she is back and stronger than ever. Humans weren’t the only ones going through grueling training for the film, so were man’s best friend. Dogs played a large role in the film and were included in several fight scenes. Training the dogs and getting the timing correct for the scenes took a lot of work and patience. Wick’s ally, Sofie (Halle Berry), and her dogs came to John Wicks defense in the film. During an interview with CinemaBlend, Director Chad Stahelski, went into the complexities of including dogs in the fight scenes. Apparently, the crew was working with five different dogs and 10 stuntmen. Thenumber of people and dogs present meant that a lot of rotating practice and time was spent to get the scene right. The dogs had to learn and remember who they were supposed to attack. This was a lot of work for both the dogs and the stuntmen, taking months for both parties to get the scene right.

Due to the popularity of the three movies, Lionsgate announced they will be making a John Wick Chapter 4. Not very surprising, given the overwhelmingly positive response to John Wick Parabellum. The announcement was made three days after Parabellum was released. Chapter 4 is expected to bereleased on May 21, 2021.

Surely, the energy and positive reviews from the latest film will prepare fans to have high hopes and anticipation for the fourth movie of the series. Soon, cast and critters will be back at work, sharpening their fighting skills to out-do what audiences enjoyed so much about this last movie. Reeves and Berry are a long time Hollywood favorites, and when a talented cast is committed to their roles, great movies like John Wick are created.

Well, it finally happened. After months of speculation as to what Cable will look like, we finally saw the first images a few days ago. In case you don’t know, Cable has been both the friend and foe of Wade Wilson (Deadpool)

Production for the Deadpool movie began back in June and there was a teaser trailer that was leaked online, but no mention or sight of Cable. If you recall at the end of the original Deadpool, there was a mention that if they could get someone to play Cable then there would be a sequel. I will admit I am surprised that they went with Brolin in the first place. I am not saying it was a bad choice at all, just a little surprised. In the pictures I have seen of Cable, Brolin wasn’t who I was thinking.

I was thinking of two specific people who would have fit the role. Ron Perlman, who played Hellboy and former WWE/WCW superstar Kevin Nash. I figured it to be these two because they have the height (Perlam is 6 foot 1, and Nash is 6 foot 10). Also in the pictures, Cable has slicked back gray hair and both of these guys have that Cable look. I am not saying Josh Brolin is bad, just he wasn’t my first choice. I don’t think of Brolin when I think of Cable. However, as long as the director does the rest of production for Deadpool 2, I hope it is as good as the first one.

I am curious to see how they bring him into the movie in the first place. In the original, there is no major mention of Cable until the end when you have the extras. So I hope they write him into the movie the right way.

Deadpool 2 will be one of three X-Men movies set to release in 2018. The other two are New Mutants, which will be about the younger class of X-Men. Then there is Dark Phoenix, which will follow the 2015 X-Men movie. In case you didn’t see Josh Brolin as Cable, here it is:

With what little we know of Captain Marvel fans still won’t be able to resist seeing the next step in Marvel’s master plan. So far the studio has done little wrong in the eyes of their audience. They’ve built their powerhouse leading heroes like Captain America and Iron Man. There lesser known heroes like Ant-Man and Doctor Strange have made their presence felt in the MCU. Now, Marvel is shifting focus yet again to the heroine known as Captain Marvel.

Not to be confused with the DC character who would later be known as Shazam, Carol Danvers is MArvel’s attempt to replicate another strong iconic comic book character Wonder Woman. Like her rival DC counterpart, Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel is said to be the strongest of her universes heroes. Her story has crossed paths with Marvel icons such as the Avengers and X-men as well as stood out on her own as an independent staple in the Marvel Universe. Unfortunately for fans, we won’t see her solo film until 2019, which after hearing she won’t appear in Avengers: Infinity War could be the first time we see her character.

What we know so far:

Captain Marvel will star Brie Larson as well as bring back Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Larson has been a whirl wind of popularity appearing in films such as Kong: Skull Island, 21 Jump Street, Trainwreck, and Room. The latter of films she won an Oscar for Best Actress.

It will be set in the 1990’s. The most interesting decision for this film is the time frame. Captain Marvel seemed like a good fit for the direction of the MCU. Now it appears we’re getting another throwback of sorts. Much like Wonder Woman was before the events of the current DCEU events, Captain Marvel will be before the early stages of the Marvel universe? Could this be planned to bring back some of Marvel’s forgotten heroes in bigger roles or cameo appearances?

We will finally see the on-screen debut of the Skrull. Rumors are kicking up all around the internet that basing the movie on the shape-shifting Skrull in the 1990’s will set up the Secret Invasion story arc. The Alien race has been kicking around the comics since the earlier stages. Could this be the big time baddies Marvel has needed?

Marvel has long needed a stand alone female protagonist. Fans have longed for a solo project since the days of Scarlett Johansen as Black Widow. Unfortunately for Marvel, the character herself isn’t enough to take on one of DC’s Trinity. Arguably three of the most iconic characters in history are Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. DC has made those three into a cultural phenomenon in comics as well as on the big screen. DC has made those three into a cultural phenomenon in comics as well as on the big screen. You can check out the best DC comic book collectibles and buy comic book online.

As well known as Captain Marvel is to comic book fans, she doesn’t hold a candle to Wonder Woman in the public eye.

After the success of her stand-alone film, Wonder Woman crept back into people’s hearts with the DCEU’s first real critically acclaimed film. There’s no doubt that Captain Marvel will wow Marvel fans and movie goers alike. However, with the lesser known of the two characters, it will be an uphill battle to overthrow her predecessor, deeming this true or false: False!

While the two films don’t go head-to-head in a traditional sense, Thor Ragnarok and Justice League both will be released in November of this year just two weeks apart. The third part in the Thor trilogy will hit theaters November 3rd, Justice League November 17th. So who will have the better film?

Marvel has reigned supreme over their DC counterpart in terms of success. Every step of the way, Marvel has put together a better feature film than their friendly rivals. But this year that changed when Wonder Woman beat out Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 at the domestic box office. Luckily for Marvel fans, it outpaced them at globally. However, even Sony’s Spider-man: Homecoming, which Marvel had a hand in, can’t seem to get the traction that Wonder Woman had. Having a proven product will only strengthen their cause. Thor 3 will have the benefit of tying into one of Marvel’s biggest properties ever with Avengers: Infinity War set to release next year. On top of their already overshadowing track record, anticipation for the film alone ought to put them light years ahead of the competition.

DC may have one saving grace. The sequel Thor: The Dark World wasn’t as well received as Marvel had hoped. Some loved it, while others felt like it could’ve been much better. Too bad for them, Ragnarok might be the ultimate superhero buddy flick lending Hulk to the main cast. If ever the DCEU had an ace in the hole, Justice League would be the time to pull it out. DC may have tipped the scale slightly in their favor. Not only did Wonder Woman start to establish them as a closer competitor, the rest of Justice League will be fresh faces as well. While there have been different versions of the heroes on tv and animated films Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash are relatively new to the big screen. There won’t be a strong comparison to previous iterations of the character so they can be molded into the type of character the film wants to portray. From the trailers, all three characters look to pay homage to the ones we’re used to but differ in ways that could either help or hurt their cause. If DC got them right then Justice League has way more firepower to knock off the Marvel competition.

In the end, it’s a matter of new and exciting versus tried-and-true. DC has the benefit of a larger scale movie, but Marvel has established themselves as a major player for so long. While it seems unfair to compare the properties, the box office may not lie. With a much bigger chance of success, even though Marvel is the champ, DC might finally have enough in hand to stand a chance. The vote goes to: True!

DC had a solid showing at this years SDCC. At the event, the DCEU grew even bigger with the announcements and confirmation of a total of 9 films. Aquaman, Shazam, Suicide Squad 2, The Batman, Justice League Dark, Batgirl, Green Lantern Corps and Wonder Woman 2 all had logos teased to those in attendance. Most shocking of all was the announcement that The Flash movie would go by Flashpoint. To comic book fans and fans of the show alike, that name should stand out like a sore thumb. While the tv show teased their own version of the iconic storyline it was nowhere close to the comic book pages. With it still so early on, was Flashpoint the right story for the hero to follow? If you love the Flash, you couldn’t have it another way.

Strong story: If you have no clue what Flashpoint is and what to be surprised, close this page out. You won’t want to keep reading. For those of you still reading, Flashpoint tells the story of how Barry Allen goes back in time to stop his mother’s murder forever altering the timeline we’ve grown to know. By doing so he creates a parallel timeline with a much darker universe than we’ve come to know. Our heroes aren’t who they used to be and Barry is the only one who is conscious. After realizing the mistake he’s made, the Flash has to do all he can to right the wrongs he has created.

Geoff Johns: Can you guess who the writer on Flashpoint is? Yep, the same Geoff Johns in charge of building and expanding the DCEU. What better way to expand a character’s big screen presence than a guy responsible for writing one of the heroes most iconic stories. Johns is also responsible for further building some other famous characters like Teen Titans and Green Lanterns. Before everyone sounds off on why he’s not building the DCEU into what we want, his time in his current position started in 2016. From here on out he should have more creative control over how these characters are portrayed in direct relation to the ones he’s helped build in the comics.

Familiar faces: One of the best rumors being tossed around for this film is the casting of Walking Dead alumni Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan. Having appeared in Batman v Superman as Martha and Thomas Wayne, if the two reprise their roles as the character it makes the star power of the film that much stronger. From the Flashpoint comic, the duo goes mad after Bruce is killed the night of the mugging in the new timeline. Thomas Wayne became the Batman instead of Bruce and Martha is thrust down a dark path of death and destruction as the Joker. The hardest part would be how it plays into the current DCEU and where the characters go from there.

Flashpoint could be the studio’s way of saying they need to come out of the gate swinging. So many fans have already been disappointed by not using the television version of Flash played by Grant Gustin that they needed to make the big screen version that more special. From the comics, Flashpoint has the potential to be just as big character wise as Justice League so DC appears to be firing all guns. If they can hammer home all the right points from the comics there’s no doubt The Flash will get a sequel. But where do they go from one of their strongest stories? We’ll have to wait and see.

When Saw first hit movie screens in 2004 it was a low budget, independent, horror film looking for a larger release. After airing at the Sundance Film Festival early that year, it would be released world wide that October. From then on it would go on to have a sequel every year for the next seven years. By the fourth installment of the films they’d gained the tagline “If it’s Halloween, it must be Saw” a clever play on the need to see the horror film right around Halloween each year. Back in 2010, it was announced that the series would be coming to a close with their final film Saw 3D. Lionsgate talked about a reboot of the franchise only to decide to move forward with a sequel, Jigsaw:

Jigsaw will apparently take place 10 years after the death of John Kramer. As the trailer wants you to believe, Jigsaw may still be alive if only in inspiring a copy-cat killer. For some, it will be a return to a late October tradition continuing the story of a twisted killer forcing an appreciation for life upon his victims. Others will see it as only a must-see film because they’ve invested so much time and money into the original series that they have to see it through. Finally will be the last group, who want to lock the studio in a torture room, like the ones in the movies, until they agree to stop making films in the series.

If Lionsgate wanted to return to this style of film they could’ve really made a splash with a character everyone always wanted to see more of. Find a way to work out a deal with CBS/Showtime for the rights to Dexter bring one of the most beloved serial killers to the big screen. As much as people like the Saw franchise, we’ve seen all that we can from the story. Unless they find a way to reinvent the wheel, the likelihood of a predictable film is very high. With Dexter, they could’ve put a nice cap on a show that at one time was looking towards one more season. Rather than bring back a franchise that seven years out of touch with current audiences, they could’ve brought back one that is still being streamed after being off the air for 4 years.

Whatever the case may be Jigsaw might have an uphill battle in regaining ground in the horror genre. Some would even go as far to push it right into gore, out of the realm of an engaging storyline. Combine that with almost a decade out of the audiences’ eyes and it might not sit as well with a younger crowd. Jigsaw might be seen as one of the few flops of the franchise.

When SDCC comes around, it’s like Christmas in July of most comic book fans. There is never a shortage of new trailers, casting announcements, and news from our favorite movies and shows. This year didn’t let us down. With trailers from Thor: Ragnarok, Ready Player One, Justice League and a whole lot more fans were treated to a variety of exciting things to come.

One of the most anticipated trailers was the second feature from Justice League. With so many black clouds circling the DCEU, DC needed its next hero team up to wow SDCC. Wonder Woman gave fans a glimmer of hope leading up to the November release but was it enough.

From the trailer alone there’s so much going on. In both trailers, they’ve lead fans to believe Superman will not be appearing in this film. Pay enough attention and you’ll know that is most likely not the case. Propped up by a series of one-liners, the trailer reveals a much deeper look into the film. Of course, it opens with everyone’s favorite female badass Wonder Woman then goes on from there:

The Villain: From the New Gods series, DC is introducing the Justice Leagues larger than life foe, Steppenwolf. He’s not the big, bad, villain fans wanted to see in Darkseid but he’s done his fair share of damage in the comics. DC might be using one of their lesser known villains here, but if he’s as powerful as the comics say, it’s a great lead into the JL sequel. From the trailer alone Steppenwolf doesn’t look like the villain who could be taken down by a single hero alone.

“No protectors here. No Lanterns, no Kryptonian”: DC really wants you to believe that Superman will not be in Justice League come November. They even went as far as to point out that the Green Lanterns are nowhere to be found. This quote while minor reveals a great deal about the first stages of the movie. More than likely, we’ll see just how vulnerable our heroes are before their equalizing counterparts file in. While there’s still a chance neither or both be in the film, leaving them out will be a huge injustice.

The Quotes: DC clearly wants to point out that Justice League will have a bit more humor in it. They’re also using one-liners to push the lore for their characters. “One misses the day where all one had to worry about was exploding, wind up, penguins.” alluding to the famous Batman villain, “I just pushed some people and run away” speaks to Barry’s inexperience as a hero, “Oh wow! They really just vanish, that’s rude” a call back to Batman leaving Gordon on the rooftops. They really hammered home the easter eggs in this one hoping to draw in the crowds.

Hope: The central theme of Justice League seems to be hope. From the newspaper shrink-wrapped in the beginning reading “World Without Hope” to the Alfred claiming with a brief pause “Now let’s (pause) hope you’re not too late”. If we go all the way back to Man of Steel where Superman proclaims “It’s not an S, On my world, it means hope” it’s clear the message their trying to send. They’re not flat out saying Superman will be in the film, but they’re definitely hinting. To have him come right out in the trailer would be another Doomsday moment where they reveal too much too early. This time around they want just enough speculating to keep you hoping for a different reveal.

Justice League might need to be the DCEU’s masterpiece. With slightly restored faith in the franchises due to overwhelming success from Wonder Woman, they finally have a leg to stand on. With so much doom and gloom that has surrounded their projects, you could make a superhero film out it alone. Now they’ll look to rebound with their biggest title, with some of their biggest heroes. The pressure is on Will they meet the demands of their fans who grow more impatient with each failure? Find out this November.

When Jaws first burst onto movie screens in 1975, it brought a real fear to life on the big screen. Even after the sequels, anyone who saw the movie had second thoughts about swimming in the open ocean. Since then, however, only poor knock-offs of the ocean’s greatest predator have been brought to the forefront. Movies like Sharknado have taken a once horror staple and made it kind of goofy.

However, with a once straight to DVD or VOD demand, 47 Meters Down may look to change that. The movie itself looks like another cookie cutter vacation horror to play on the dangers of travel but with superhero fatigue possibly setting in films such is this may thrive.
from IMDB:

“Two sisters vacationing in Mexico are trapped in a shark cage at the bottom of the ocean. With less than an hour of oxygen left and great white sharks circling nearby, they must fight to survive.”

After the success of the new hit tv show This Is Us on NBC, fans could be eager to see Mandy Moore’s next work. She has a long list of acting credits but limited success since 2002’s A Walk To Remember. This Is Us has catapulted her career back to the forefront and her other projects should see a boost because of it.

Based on the trailer, we won’t be getting the Jaws treatment and barely seeing the shark throughout the film. It appears they’ll appear early and often to wreak and instill fear. In order to achieve any success in theaters, 47 Meters Down needs to have the visual effects that make the most out of these predators. If in any way the sharks look fake it could be a short-lived run.

People have been fascinated by and feared sharks for years. Horror/Thrillers bringing back realistic fears could be a big break for the declining genre. People want to feel connected to the fear the actors face. If films can play off people’s emotions based on real and present fears then success is almost a given. Can 47 Meters Down connect to audiences in the same way? Find out on June 16th.
