Kickboxing was developed by the Japanese as a hybrid form of martial arts combining punching and kicking, a blend of boxing and Karate. By 1974, it had crossed the Pacific to the United States where the first World Championship was held. By the middle of the 1990s, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu had been added to the mix as well. From there, kickboxing became one of the early contributors to the rise of the Mixed Martial Arts – MMA.

Kickboxing is an aggressive style of fighting that provides a high-intensity workout and cardiovascular strengthening. It can justly be said to be one of eleven health tips for women to build a great body and mind. Doctors have long known that a regular workout is essential for good health, along with a good diet, getting lots of fluids, and taking care of yourself mentally and emotionally.

The Right Equipment Pays Dividends

If you’re going to get into kickboxing, you need to have the right equipment, such as the best kickboxing gloves, for it. Whether you’re practicing, sparring, or fighting in the cage, you need the best gloves you can get. There are different gloves for all three activities, even though they all involve kickboxing, so let’s take a quick look at each of them in turn.

Kickboxing Training Gloves for Practicing

Good kickboxing training gloves look a lot like regular boxing gloves at first glance, and for the most part, they are, with some differences. First, though, they are used for both bag punching and for sparring.

The outer covering is leather which not only breaths, it is easy to clean and maintain. The leather is filled with soft foam or gel to soften the impact of blows on your hand. Your hands are some of the most easily damaged parts of your body in kickboxing, whether you’re training, sparring, or fighting. High-quality protection for them is essential.

The closure system on kickboxing gloves is Velcro strips. It makes them quick and easy to put on and take off. Velcro strips are also size adjustable for a better fit.

The gloves also sport a mesh palm (pun intended). This lets your hands breath so they’ll stay cool while you’re training or sparring. That way you’re not holding any moisture inside the gloves. Although the gloves need to fit tightly, too much moisture inside the glove can cause your hand to slip and turn inside the glove, leading to sprained wrists and other injuries.

Fighting Gloves for Kickboxing

In the cage, you need actual kickboxing gloves, which are definitely different than boxing gloves. For those of you who are new to the world of kickboxing or MMA, the gloves don’t have any fingers beyond the first knuckle, i.e.; fingerless gloves.

They have mesh panels in them, usually on the palms, although other locations are possible too. They are leather gloves, or sometimes, Maya Hide leather gloves. Maya Hide is a polyurethane imitation leather. Underneath, it has cotton, shredded leather, or polyester.

There is an emphasis on protecting your hands and the closures on these gloves are an adjustable hook and loop system. Once it is adjusted to your size, you’ll get the same fit every time, and it is very quick and easy to remove or put on.

There are various sizes and color options available to match your colors in the cage, basically making your gloves part of your uniform.

Kickboxing Isn’t Boxing

Although kickboxing certainly borrows a lot from regular boxing, the two sports are different nonetheless, so it only stands to reason that the gloves you use in them are different as well.

Boxing gloves are much larger and bulkier than kickboxing gloves. Because everything in boxing centers around throwing punches, there is much more padding in the glove to protect the knuckles and disperse the force of each punch so it isn’t concentrated in one place. The padding in boxing gloves tends to move around much more than in a kickboxing glove, so all the padding needs to be more substantial than in a kickboxing glove.

The wrist protection on a boxing glove is much larger than a kickboxing glove. Kickboxing requires flexibility in the wrist area for grappling and other moves that aren’t allowed in boxing. The wrist protection in a boxing glove is stiffer, more padded, and much tighter. This keeps your wrist much more stable in the ring.

Although both sports are physically aggressive sports with a lot of punches and hits being thrown, kickboxing allows a greater range of permissible actions than boxing so the gloves also have to allow a greater range of motion.

Mixed Martial Arts are rising in popularity and there are even some talks about adding MMA to the Olympics roster. The main reason behind this sudden and global popularity boost is simple. This sport is amazing and something everyone can enjoy. Whether you stick to it only as entertainment for Saturday night TV or start practicing some of the martial arts types yourself, you definitely should adopt MMA as your new hobby.

4 Reasons Why You Should Start Training and Studying MMA

MMA News
MMA News
  1. Training in martial arts boosts self-confidence

Having a fabulous body is sure to give you a boost of self-confidence by default. However, there is another dimension to it when along with having those muscles you learn how to use them as well.

And you shouldn’t think that MMA will make you bulky or only good for fighting. It’s called ‘art’ for a reason and along with your stamina and balance it will help develop the grace of movement. You also need to remember that many of the martial arts include some form of psychological training. Therefore they do not only build up your confidence in yourself, they also make you more resilient to stress.

  1. MMA is entertaining

One could say that every sport is fun to watch if you enjoy it. However, MMA of today is literally a side branch of the entertainment industry. The fighters are performers as much as they are athletes. Just take a look at the latest MMA news and you’ll see that the feed is full of drama that goes far beyond reporting the results of most notable fights. You can get caught up in following that drama without actually practicing the sports.

One also couldn’t deny the fact that watching some MMA fights is a great idea for a date, if your date isn’t opposed to this kind of pastime. The excitement and adrenaline will get your blood pumping and can help create a setting for a marvelous night.

  1. Martial arts offer a fantastic workout

Lifting weights and doing reps you learn from some bodybuilding workout plan on the Internet can help you achieve results in the gym. However, doing all these things as a part of your martial arts training will make the exercising much more fun.

In this case, you will have a clear goal and will be able to measure your progress by the milestones of personal accomplishments in the sport. Therefore, keeping your motivation to exercise will become much easier. As a result, you will definitely get the body of your dreams and you will look forward to your workouts instead of seeing them as a chore. Your body will be thankful for it not only because of the great physical shape but also due to the health boost you get from regular exercising.

  1. MMA training will help you stay safe

Global statistics on violent crimes and homicide aren’t looking too good today, so learning self-defense is the sensible thing to do. Your body is a weapon that’s always with you, so it’s the best tool you have for getting out of dangerous situations. MMA will teach you highly effective methods of self-defense, which you, hopefully, never need to use.

Note that martial arts teach you not only how to fight but also how to think fast and pick the best plan out of a dozen in highly stressful situations. Those skills can literally save your life more often than the ability to land a good punch.

The list of reasons why MMA is a great kind of sport to get into can go on and on. However, those are the main factors that make it such an amazing choice for both personal training and entertainment.

Few MMA fights have had as much seemingly riding on them as the upcoming bout between Conor “Notorious” McGregor and Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov, which will take place at UFC 229 on 6th October at Las Vegas. The former, McGregor, is, of course, a household name, the biggest star in the sport and a personality that transcends the sport’s boundaries.

McGregor’s opponent is not yet a household name, yet. He has one of the most fearsome reputations in MMA and, in fact, is the current record holder for most consecutive victories (26). This is no exhibition match for McGregor, who returns to the Octagon after nearly two years in exile. Indeed, the battle for the UFC Lightweight Championship looks like one of the Irishman’s toughest to date.

Khabib betting favourite for bout

For context, look at the latest bookmakers’ odds for the fight. Nearly all top sportsbooks have put the Russian in as the favourite. He is priced at about 8/13 with bookies like Bet365, with McGregor coming in at 11/8. That’s not far away from being a toss up in betting terms, but still it points overwhelmingly to the Russian.

Indeed, the betting markets do hold the key for understanding where the fight will be won and lost. Almost all sportsbooks think it will be stopped early, with Betfair going as big as 16/5 that it will be decided by the judges. Moreover, the consensus is that McGregor needs to win by KO/TKO. Those odds come in at 17/10 (Bet365). It’s worth remembering that the Irishman has used his ferocious striking ability to claim KO wins in six of his last seven UFC wins.

McGregor needs to keep on his feet

For the Russian, it’s all about getting McGregor to the floor and using his incredible repertoire of wrestling abilities. A Khabib win by submission gets odds of 3/1 from William Hill and certainly looks like one of the most popular bets. The fight has been hugely hyped, so don’t forget to check sites giving you the best Khabib McGregor betting offers before you bet.

While the consensus of the bookmakers is to go for a McGregor win, but only just, many pundits think it is time for Khabib to take the crown. There is only one year in difference between the fighters, but it feels like the Russian is the young upstart ready to usurp the throne from McGregor. Pundits, critics and, even, fans of the Irishman have been proven wrong before however. Anyone banking on McGregor to be finished with his time at the top may just end up seeming foolish.

McGregor strikes can devastate Khabib

Analysing the two fighters two histories shows up some interesting points of concern. If McGregor goes to the floor, Khabib will win. However, it is not so easy to bring the Irishman down. His feet, his reach and his boxing skills will all help him keep his balance, while delivering blows to Khabib. Many are pointing towards Khabib’s ability to shake off a blow to the head, but he has not faced anyone of the striking power of McGregor before.

Everything is pointing towards a fascinating fight, one where we might see the crowning of a new face of the sport and the downfall of the old. However, rule out McGregor at your peril. He has proved time and time again that he is the master at overcoming doubters. This might be his toughest test, but there is little reason to believe he won’t pass it with flying colours.

MMA is an absolutely fantastic sport for people of all ages. If you too are just like most other people who are interested in trying out ‘Mixed Martial Arts’ or MMA as it is more popularly known these days, then the odds are, that just watching all those stellar athletes perform dazzling moves, on the mat may leave you feeling intimidated.

Well, you can easily rest assured, this is an entirely normal process and that, most instructors at dojos and gyms all over the world are not just accustomed but also quite good at helping people easily get past their raw nerves. Still, some following are pretty helpful hints that one should always keep in mind when he or she starts going to the dojo for the very first time in his or her life.

o Conduct your due diligence research beforehand

Before joining a dojo for the purpose of ‘kick-starting’ (no pun intended) of indulging your passion as a martial artist you should conduct a ‘due diligence’ research survey beforehand, with regard to the various options and styles as well as dojos available.  In this case, the ideal thing to do would be to go right ahead and join a join a learning school where MMA would be a ‘prime time’ exercise. I.e. the kind of place where many people (read fighters) would love to come and exercise as well as practice. As a matter of fact, the more the people the better it will be for you to both learn and practice with the help of your seniors as well as coaches and guides.

o You have to figure out if you really enjoy it or not

Before you take the seminal decision to join MMA classes, you will first and foremost, have to figure out if you really and truly enjoy the sport and are absolutely dedicated towards it. For make no mistake, it can and indeed does demand a lot in terms of time, commitment, and energy.  And this holds true for people who are already well versed in other disciplines such as Judo, Aikido, Tai Che, to quote but a few.   This is because MMA is not really for the faint of heart at all. And if you do not have what it takes you might end up getting really demotivated fairly quickly indeed. So instead of jumping right in, you should take some time out and see for yourself, if this is exactly what you want to do or will you be satisfied with some other, but less intense style or sport for that matter.

o Be really honest with yourself as well as your instructors

Now that you have made the decision to opt for MMA, you should never try to ‘bite more than you can chew.’ By this, it is meant that you have to keep in mind your own endurance and fitness levels. If you were to lie to your coach and your own self that you are actually more fit than you really are, then the only person who is liable to get hurt will almost certainly be you, yourself.  So, you should not feel any embarrassment in opening up, regarding your level of physical fitness or for that matter, the lack of the same, thereof.  Always remember, everyone has to start off from at least one specific point in time, in terms of their overall health and even the best fighters at your local gym, were not really born that way, after all.

If you are really diligent and contentious then the odds are that sooner or later, you will be playing with the big boys and giving them a run for their money.

o Be patient

Many, if not most people are not really absolute naturals at the sport, especially when it comes to something as intense as MMA. This holds even truer if the aspiring martial artists never did get any kind of martial arts exposure as a kid.

Apart from the fact that it will hurt a lot initially, as muscles and tendons that had never known hard work are put through their paces, there is the fact that a lot of the stuff you will be taught might seem counterintuitive, at least initially. Which is precisely why it will take a long time indeed for both your mind and body to really ‘sync up’ and thereby really learn a lot of the ‘bare bones’ basics of this high-intensity combat sport.

However, you can rest assured that this is expected as such. And even as you push the envelope relentlessly, you will realize that you have started having fun as well. Here, if you can really force yourself to be very patient but at the same time keep absolutely realistic goals and consistently continue to show up for your training sessions. You will slowly and gradually notice that what had stopped you in your tracks is now an easy task.

Really get to work on your endurance levels overall

This can be also accomplished with the help of activities that you conduct outside the gym.  These can include going for long jobs early in the morning. Climbing stairs multiple times and rope skipping (You should continue this last even if you feel that you are at the end of your proverbial rope).  Such high-intensity cardio training will give you the stamina you need for both sparing and competition.

These workouts will also increase your endurance and the capacity to absorb pain. Both of which are qualities vital to winning against your opponent, regardless of how big he may be. At the same time, you should also spar as much as you can to ensure that you are always in fighting trim.

Once you follow these fairly simple guidelines, you can become an ace MMA fighter in no time.

Former two time light heavyweight UFC champion Jon Jones had his hearing with the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) on Tuesday. In a week with a main UFC card at UFC 222 Jones garnered all of the attention. Very much deserving as the fate of one of the biggest fighters in the game was somewhat on the line.

Jones had his CSAC license revoked in August of 2017. This happened when the news broke that he failed his July 28th drug test that found him testing positive for the steroid turinabol.

The plot could not be more confusing than what is currently at play. Jones had passed tests on the 6th, 7th, and 29th post fight test. The only test that came back as positive was the test on the 28th. One would think that if he passed a post fight test, but failed in a pre fight test that he stopped using the steroid that theory is just not aligned to the science.

One scientist, Paul Scott, who is the president of the Karva laboratories testified that a dose in a range of 20-60 mg would be a dose needed to take to enhance performance. This also means according to his report, it would still be in the system for up to 50 days. However, there’s is a half-life method. This is that it could have lasted in Jones system for up to 14 days testified, DR. Daniel Eichner from, “Sports Medicine Research and Testing Laboratory of Utah” in Salt Lake City.

Supervising Deputy Attorney General state of California, Jim Ledakis who was on the prosecution side had this interesting conversation with DR. Eichner…

Ledakis: “Can you say with any degree of reasonable certainty that MR. Jones physical performance was enhanced by a positive drug test for M3 (the turinabol metabolite)?

Dr. Eichner: “No I can not.”

Ledakis: “Can you say whether the metabolite M3 was ingested for therapeutic reasons or was ingested by accident?”

Dr. Eichner: “There’s not enough information about that would make a determination. No.”

This is interesting to note because of the fact in this case there was no evidence to support that Jones took the substance knowingly or did it enhance his performance.

Logic would tell you that if any substance had been taken, it would’ve been since the 7th of July, after the test and before July 28th. The only issue is, how did he then pass the post fight test and the test on October 11th?

Another interesting miniscule conversation was between Mr. Jacobs (Jones attorney) and a member of CSAC…

Mr. Jacobs detailed to the commission that, “we sent I think like 15 supplements to Dr. Eichner’s lab and he tested them all.”

CSAC member: “Things other than supplements tested?”

Mr. Jacobs: “Massage creams… sent to Dr. Eichner and he tested them as well.”

So above their being no scientific evidence to show wrongdoing they even voluntarily handed over their supplements. Jones even took a polygraph screening voluntarily. Also, talking to USADA voluntarily. Jones and his team did whatever they could to prove their innocence.

In the hearing Jon would talk about how confusing the news was when he first heard it. Even detailing something he did during this period of time, “I was immediately asked to look at the people around me and see how this got in my body… so yeah, it was a really interesting situation.” Detailing at every turn how confused he was with what was going on. Also, how cautious he was saying of his camp that he was, “super, super careful.”

The hearing ended with question from the members of CSAC statements too. All of the members would bring up past wrongdoings of Jones to establish a claim that what he was doing here was wrong. They’d bring up DWI charges, hit-and-run charges, and many more. Martha Shen-Urquidez even tried to accuse him of breaking his probation. Jon hopped on it quick saying he was cited five times in the same incident. Even with those claims she tried her best to portray it as a separate incident that caused him to break his probation, which was false.

In all of this it left one thing clear, Jones is an innocent man who is being charged to do past negligence. He even stated in the past, he has lied and came out on record saying he lied about certain things like taking USADA courses. Listening to him speak and own up to the mistakes he made seems as if he is coming around and honestly do the right thing.

Where that leaves us?

He won’t have his license in the state of California until at least August of this year when the suspension is up. However, USADA is to hold a hearing and could suspend him up to four years and maybe added time after that. I’ll keep you updated on how this is playing out.

Before the fame, fortune, UFC title belts, being called Notorious and his mega-fight with Floyd Mayweather, he was just a guy from the rough streets of Dublin named Conor McGregor.

Brash. Arrogant. Unapologetic. Whatever adjectives you use to describe the outspoken and charismatic Irish-born MMA megastar you can also call him champion, father and self-made brand name.

It is a well-known fact that women are a minority in any fighting sport. If a woman aspired to be a successful MMA fighter, she is guaranteed to spend the majority of her time training and interacting with men. Certainly, it bears certain consequences for her personality, physical and emotional well-being.

If being an MMA fighter is not easy overall, being a female MMA fighter is probably a much bigger challenge.

What Is It Like to Be a Female MMA Fighter

To begin with, training with men has potential dangers to a female fighter’s health. Men are almost always much stronger and faster. In some ways, it is a good thing because a woman can get much better at fighting when fighting stronger opponents. However, sometimes men overdo it, because of being inexperienced or careless, or because of their ego.

Very often, a man will have self-esteem issues and will want to let out their aggression on a woman in some ways.

As a result, a woman fighter gets worse trauma, from head injury to broken ribs. Some female MMA fighters have confessed in the interviews that the only time they have ever been punched out was when fighting men.

As a result, a woman needs to choose well-trusted partners to train with, in order to avoid unpleasant health consequences.

In addition to that, male fighters so often have no idea about women’s physiology. They often stay ignorant about issues like period pain, for example. Also, it is much harder to a female fighter to go through the process of cutting weight, since the female organism retains more fluids and fat than a male’s one.

All the physiological issues of women are largely ignored in the male-dominated sports, which can make women feel frustrated and misunderstood. Largely, women feel that they are alone against the system. Thus, the psychological barrier towards becoming a successful fighter is much stronger than for men.

As if it weren’t enough, female MMA fighters can often get sexist remarks or be bossed around in the male training environment. Women have a hard time proving that they take sports seriously and need to be taken seriously by men who they train with. This can result in higher level of aggression and emotionality in women, which they will ultimately take out on their opponents.

However, even under such conditions, female MMA fighters manage to maintain a healthy view on men and sports, and stay feminine. Once they get to earn the men’s respect in their gym, they get the opportunity to fight with bigger and faster opponents, who can make them rise to their level. They are also capable of having a satisfying private life while dating men with similar interests, or those who are not intimidated by the fact that they fight.

Most often female MMA fighters would have to face accusations of lacking femininity for choosing the male’s sports. But the best thing a female fighter can do is learn to detach herself from such allegations and continue to train as much as she can to reach her goals.

While MMA is a male-dominated sports, girls like Michelle Waterson, Julie Kedzie and Jessica Penne have proven that it is possible to stay sane and feminine while also being a successful female MMA fighter.

Building a great body, certainly, requires a great deal of energy and strength. All the hard work turns into waste if nothing is done to recover from those brutal workouts.

So, let’s hear out as to how many of you do exercises to just help you do that? Very few I suppose. Well, truth be told more than the workout itself, it is the recovery that’s far more important.

So, it becomes of rather greater significance to know the easy recovery essentials after working out intensely. If you truly are a BJJ—Brazilian Ju-Jitsu—athlete, you’ll be aware of how beneficial the lower body and hip mobility is already.

In case you’re a beginner, we’ve got just the exercises for you to condition, strengthen, and stretch for a greater lower body and hip mobility.

Modified Pigeon Glute stretch

Kneel down on the mat and bring the left leg behind you. Lean your torso forward and simultaneously place the forearms on the mat. Open the right knee outward towards the left. You might need to slide forward your left ankle so the pelvis can lower towards the floor.

Bend the elbows to further deepen the stretch. Hold it for a minute or less, then switch the legs.

Wall squats

Unlike the conventional wall squat with the back against the wall, stand facing the wall with your nose and toes against it. Keep the feet slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Squat down as far as possible with the arms hanging in between the legs.

With each repetition, drop down a little further until your hips are below the knees.

Kneeling Hip Flexor Stretch

To do this intense stretch, kneel down on a mat and bring your left knee up. Keeping your left foot firmly on the ground, extend your right leg out behind so the top of the foot is on the floor.

Now just shift your weight by gently pushing the hips slightly forward until you feel the stretch in your hip. Hold this position for 15 seconds and move on to repeat on the other side.

Hip Flexor and Quad Stretch

To go into a hip flexor quad stretch stay in the same position as above.

Bring the back leg up and hold the top of the foot. Stretch your hips as much as you can by leaning a little back to focus on the quad. Hold this position too for at least 15 seconds before you change the sides to repeat again.

Hip Flexor Stretch and Reach

For this stretch too, stay low by going into the kneeling hip flexor stretch position.

As you begin to perform that very exercise and feel the stretch, reach upward with the arm alternate to the leg in front with the knee bent. Lean slightly to the left and feel a deep stretch in the abdomen. Hold this position for 15 seconds, switch the legs, and repeat.

Bulgarian Split Squats

Start by standing with your back facing a standard bench or a box of equal height. Next, as before reaching for one foot back and place the top of the foot on the bench or the box.

Slightly lower your back knee down towards the ground by bending the forward leg. When the front leg gets parallel to the floor, push through the grounded foot to return to the starting position and repeat with the alternative leg.

Fire Hydrants

Position yourself with the help of your hands and knees on the floor. Suppose this to be your initial position.

Now, keeping your knee bent and hip still, abduct the femur by moving your knee away from the body kicking. Pause at the top of this movement and then slowly return to the starting position to perform with the alternative leg.

Downward Dog Into Quad Stretch

From the fire hydrant position, get into a downward dog pose by just lifting your hips up in the air.

Both the legs and the arms stretched, making an upside down V. After getting into this position and holding it for a few seconds, lean your torso forward bending the knees and bringing them to the side of the chest.

Hold this position for a second and two, then return to the initial downward dog position.

Cobra into Dynamic Plough

To do this one last exercise get down into a third world squat with both the hands stretched in front.

Lean forward to touch down the hands in such a manner that they are placed directly underneath the shoulder.

Stretch the legs behind to go into a cobra position, take a breath in and lift your arms along with the chest.

Now bring yourself back into the squat position, roll back with the hand stretched to the sides and legs bent parallel to the floor. Bring them further down to touch the toes to the floor and in the similar way roll back to the starting position.

Professional body builders put so much hard work into building their body with the right diet and Xtreme no muscle advance supplement or others. They too understand the importance of low body & hip mobility exercises.

Being a BJJ athlete, who needs far lower body and hip mobility, do make sure to incorporate these exercises in your routine. For they’ll help you improve in ways you’ll be proud of in the near future.

It goes without saying that a woman that can fight and hold her own is a turn-on for any man, a woman as sexy, skilled and a real eye-catcher such as new UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate is in a separate category all together.

At 5’7 and 135 pounds, the spunky 29-year-old Tacoma, Washington native nicknamed “Cupcake”–and a die-hard fan of the Seattle Seahawks–claimed MMA’s top women’s championship with a rear-naked choke submission of Holly Holm in UFC 196. With her win, the grappling-Brazilian Ju Jitsu-trained wrestler improved to 18-5.

Outside of the ring, Tate is a real head-turner, as she has appeared nude in various magazines such as ESPN Magazine’s Body Issue and Fitness Gurls, Tate—and her digital likeness—is also in the popular fighting game EA Sports UFC.

Now as MMA’s reigning queen of fight and possible rematches on the horizon with both Ronda Rousey and the aforementioned Holm, Tate is now the woman to beat inside the octagon, and surely she’d like it no other way.

Check out her appearance on ESPN’s First Take (3/29/16) in the video below!

BRISBANE, Australia -The Brisbane Entertainment Centre came unglued Saturday night when all 9,552 spectators stood in a frenzy as Mark Hunt shocked the nation with a huge upset one punch knockout win over former two time UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir.

It was a very profitable night for the UFC as they took in $1.325 million in gate receipts, but the biggest winner was Hunt as he stopped Mir with a thunderous shot just three minutes into the fight. Hunt landed a right hand and as Mir crashed to the canvas and just walked away. So positive was Hunt that Mir was knocked out, he didn’t even bother following up with any shots on the ground as the referee quickly stepped in and stopped it. It was clear the “Super Samoan” knew it was over.

Where Mir goes from here is possibly retirement, or perhaps a stint in Bellator where a lot of over the hill former UFC fighters seem to show up these days, with a slight mixture of young talent such as Benson Henderson. As for Hunt, his record is nothing to write home about, but if he continues these first round knockouts, he will continue to get marquee fights. Perhaps even some on pay per view.

In the co-main event, welterweight Neil Magny earned the biggest win of his career with a shocking upset win over the heavily favored Hector Lombard. Magny became the first fighter to ever finish Hector Lombard.
Hector Lombard looked in control early and often as he dropped Magny in the first and second rounds but couldn’t put away the game opponent. Magny would rally late in the third round, taking Lombard down and finishing him off with punches on top until the ref had no choice but to stop it. It was a huge win that will jolt him up the rankings.
