What is the proper way to refer to Deion Luwynn Sanders, Sr., currently employed as the Head Coach of the football team of the University of Colorado at Boulder? This question actually has a rather simple answer. The man has requested that he be referred to as “Coach Prime” as his professional name, and therefore he should be referred to as Coach Prime.

This is a normal courtesy.  For example, if a person is named William Robert Jones, he could simply be called William. But he might prefer to be called Will, Willy, Bill, or Billy. Or he might prefer to be known by his middle name and be called Robert, Bob, Bobby, Bubba, Bo, or even Billy Bob. Perhaps he prefers he prefers to be called Will Jones but hates being called Billy Bob Jones.  So out of respect, you call him Will  Jones. But if you want to be a jerk, you call him “Billy Bob!  Hey, Billy Bob!”  And therein lies the issue. It’s a question of respect.

A human being deserves to be called what he or she wishes to be called. A petty game of disrespect is to call them something else. This petty game has been played by racists for centuries. Would you like to be referred to as a man? Well, we’re going to make a point of calling you “boy.”  It is not a term of endearment if we refuse to call you a man.

This is why it is wrong if sportswriters insist on referring to Coach Prime by some other less formal form of address.  Coach Prime is extremely polite in his press conferences. This commentator cannot say that he has seen every press conference given by the coach, but in almost every instance he refers to the sportswriter as “Sir” or “Ma’am.” This is just the style or decorum he has sought to instill in his press conferences.

In some cases, sportswriters have insisted on their right to refer to Coach Prime by his first name, pointing out that other famous head coaches allow sportswriters to communicate on a first-name basis.  That is not the point. If Oail Andrew Phillips was okay being called Bum Phillips, that is fine. That doesn’t mean you should call everyone “Bum.”  The rules is very simple: call the person by whatever name he or she has requested.

If you were at a press conference with the President of the United States, would you refer to him as Mr. President? Or would you insist on using his first name?  Would it depend on which political party he belonged to?

If you ever get a chance to interview His Holiness Pope Francis I, you probably would not call him by his given name, Jorge. Or if you would, you would be a jerk of epic proportions.

On the other hand, let’s face it. A lot of people just don’t like Deion Sanders and are not interested in respecting him. Could it be that some people just don’t want African American coaches to succeed?

Coach Jay Norvell sank to a new low. “When I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat and my glasses off. That’s what my mother taught me.”

Have anyone ever heard of that rule?  The implication is that Sanders is a boy, and that Sanders’ mother didn’t teach him properly.  That is a new low.  It is shameful, and Coach Norvell should be put on a leave of absence to undergo sensitivity training. This is awful and goes way beyond the bounds of college rivalry.

The NFL is a dynamic league that constantly evolves year after year. Among the various changes, the rise of mobile quarterbacks has become a prominent trend in recent times. This article explores the impact and significance of mobile quarterbacks in the NFL, how they have transformed the game, and the reasons behind their increased prevalence.

Introduction

In today’s fast-paced and highly competitive NFL, teams are continuously seeking innovative strategies to gain an edge over their opponents. One such strategy involves the utilization of mobile quarterbacks, who have the ability to impact the game both through their passing skills and their exceptional mobility and running ability. These dual-threat quarterbacks not only pose a challenge for opposing defenses but also provide exciting opportunities for fans and bettors who are keen on exploring NFL odds and predicting the outcome of games. With their versatility and playmaking abilities, mobile quarterbacks have become valuable assets for teams aiming to elevate their offensive capabilities and maximize their chances of success.

The Evolution of Quarterbacks in the NFL

Throughout the history of the NFL, quarterbacks have been predominantly known for their passing abilities. Pocket passers, who excel at making accurate throws from the confines of the pocket, have been the traditional archetype of a quarterback. However, the emergence of mobile quarterbacks has challenged this conventional perception and expanded the boundaries of the position. As the game has evolved, so have the expectations and demands placed on quarterbacks. Mobile quarterbacks bring a new level of athleticism and versatility to the position, allowing them to extend plays with their legs and create opportunities for their teams.

What Makes a Quarterback Mobile?

A mobile quarterback is characterized by their agility, speed, and ability to extend plays with their legs. They possess the athleticism to escape the pass rush and make plays on the run. Unlike pocket passers, these quarterbacks are not solely reliant on their arm strength and accuracy. Instead, they bring an additional dimension to their team’s offense through their mobility. This mobility allows them to improvise when plays break down, evade defenders, and create opportunities for both themselves and their teammates.

The Dual Threat: Passing and Running

Mobile quarterbacks provide a dual threat to opposing defenses. They have the capability to not only make accurate throws from the pocket but also utilize their legs to create big plays on the ground. This dual threat keeps defenses off balance and forces them to account for both the passing and running abilities of the quarterback, making it more challenging to defend against them effectively. Their ability to extend plays and create with their legs adds a level of unpredictability to the game, making them difficult to game-plan against.

The Advantages of Mobile Quarterbacks

The rise of mobile quarterbacks in the NFL can be attributed to several advantages they bring to their teams. Firstly, their ability to extend plays allows for more opportunities to find open receivers and create explosive plays. When a pocket collapses, mobile quarterbacks can use their agility to avoid sacks and keep plays alive, giving their receivers more time to get open downfield. Secondly, their mobility adds an extra dimension to the running game, as they can act as a ball carrier themselves or execute read-option plays effectively. This forces defenses to respect the quarterback as a runner, opening up additional running lanes for the team’s running backs. Lastly, mobile quarterbacks often possess excellent field vision, enabling them to make quick decisions and exploit defensive weaknesses. They can survey the field while on the move and identify open receivers or potential running lanes, maximizing the offensive potential of each play.

Impact on Offensive Strategy

The presence of a mobile quarterback has a significant impact on the overall offensive strategy of a team. Coaches have adapted their play-calling to maximize the skills of these quarterbacks, incorporating more designed quarterback runs, read-options, and bootlegs into their offensive schemes. This evolution has not only increased the versatility of the offense but also put additional pressure on opposing defenses to account for the quarterback’s mobility. Defenses must be prepared to defend against both the passing and running threats posed by mobile quarterbacks, requiring them to be disciplined and adaptable in their assignments.

Defensive Challenges and Adaptations

The rise of mobile quarterbacks has forced defenses to adjust their strategies. Defenders must be prepared to contain the quarterback’s running ability while also defending against the passing game. This requires a more disciplined approach, with defenders maintaining their assignments and ensuring containment to prevent the quarterback from breaking free for big gains. Additionally, defenses may employ spy techniques, assigning a defender specifically to shadow the mobile quarterback and limit their running opportunities. This adaptability and discipline are essential for defending against the unique challenges posed by mobile quarterbacks.

Success Stories: Notable Mobile Quarterbacks

Several mobile quarterbacks have made a significant impact in the NFL in recent years. Players like Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray, and Jalen Hurts have showcased their dual-threat abilities and become focal points of their team’s offense. Their success has further validated the value of mobile quarterbacks in today’s game and encouraged teams to explore similar options for their own rosters. These quarterbacks have not only provided excitement and highlight-reel plays but have also led their teams to success on the field.

The Future of Mobile Quarterbacks

As the NFL continues to evolve, it is likely that the prevalence of mobile quarterbacks will persist and even increase. The success of these quarterbacks and the innovative offensive strategies they inspire will shape the future of the league. Teams will continue to seek quarterbacks who can make an impact both through the air and on the ground, blurring the line between traditional pocket passers and mobile playmakers. The versatility and playmaking ability of mobile quarterbacks will continue to challenge defenses and provide exciting opportunities for fans and bettors who are eager to explore NFL odds and predict the outcomes of games.

Conclusion

The rise of mobile quarterbacks has revolutionized the game of football. These dual-threat athletes bring a new dimension to the field, challenging defenses and providing their teams with a strategic advantage. As the NFL continues to evolve, the presence of mobile quarterbacks will shape the league’s landscape, influencing offensive strategies and creating new opportunities for success. Whether it’s evading defenders with their agility or making pinpoint throws on the run, mobile quarterbacks have redefined the quarterback position and established themselves as game-changers in the modern NFL.

The PGA Tour, LIV Golf, and the DP World Tour have agreed on a merger.

What this means. The LIV Golfers can now apply for reinstatement to the PGA Tour to play in their events again.

The merger allows various different styles of golf tournaments to be promoted in the competitive platform from team competitions and individual competitions to 54 and 72 hole events for all involved.

The skill levels of golfers that compete in said events will have a more accurate calculation in how competitive the competition will be week in and week out.

What possibly could have caused the accelerated deal to get done. LIV Golf tournament players couldn’t previously play in events hosted by the PGA Tour.

When the majors came around the LIV players proved that the competition was strong as ever. At the Masters you have 3 of the top 4 finishers LIV golfers, and at the PGA Championship you have Brooks Koepka a fellow LIV golfer win to showcase how strong that LIV really is.

All parties assessed how competition will be impacted, and felt the merger would be the best move.

Let’s explore the winners and the losers of this series of events.

Winner- LIV Tour golfers. The players that jumped to LIV during the inaugural year got millions in bonuses to join the competitive tour.

Jumping into something like that is similar to getting in at Apple when it was young in the 80’s, saying yes to Mark Zuckerberg in his Harvard dorm room to assist with launching Facebook, or buying Bitcoin when it was a couple bucks.

Winner – Donald Trump. LIV gave Donald Trump the opportunity to showcase his properties to top competition. With top competition playing his golf courses, Donald Trump gains more publicity.

With Trump calling the merger happening in the summer of 2022, it continues to prove his credibility as a businessman. Now that the merger has officially happened it proves Trump right.

Could he use this as a stepping stone for a 2024 run at President?

Winner – Golf. With the merger of the tours. The game of golf is starting to get the global respect that it deserves. Many have overlooked golf about not being very popular.

LIV Golf created an atmosphere to generate interest to the young fan from loud music, to more interaction overall with the players on the course.

With the merger the young crowd that LIV Golf created, the PGA Tour can get some of that fanbase that the LIV Tour created.

Now golf can compete with soccer as being the one of the most popular sport globally behind soccer, as LIV helped get golf on the global stage with more events in international markets.

Winner – Competition. With the LIV players getting the opportunity to apply for reinstatement, competition will continue to be more star studded in the future as players from both tours can attempt different styles of competition going forward.

Winner – Phil Mickelson. Mickelson was a big ambassador for LIV with the idea that golf would grow. His fellow competitors criticized him, questioned his ethics, and simply ignored him as he made the switch to LIV.

Now that the merger has happened Lefty ultimately gets the last laugh.

Winner – Gary Player. Gary Player has been the global ambassador for golf for decades.

Loser – Loyalty and trust of the PGA Tour Players. The PGA Tour players stayed on the PGA with a promise that their tour would stay independent from LIV as their tour would remain exclusive for PGA Tour players only.

However, most players are disgruntled that they found out via Twitter about the merger from Collin Morikawa to Mackenzie Hughes. Seems like Monahen and company dropped the ball here.

Making a decision without getting ideas from the people that market the product is a big red flag, maybe they thought they were always in the front who knows.

Loser – The Wallet of Tiger Woods. Granted Tiger isn’t struggling with money by any means, however his wallet could be $800 million richer if he accepted the offer knowing that the tours would merge down the road.

Loser – The legacy of the legends that made the PGA Tour what it is. Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, among others must feel like everything they worked for, was nothing but greed by the future generations. When they played they had the respect of the game that may be appeared as lost in the eyes of some of those folks.

Loser – Golf Purists. When golf purists think competitive golf of the worlds best, they think of the PGA Tour only for the most part.

When the LIV Tour was formed golf purists were not happy because they thought the launch destroyed the integrity of the game.

After the news of the two tours joining forces, golf purists were again not happy with the outcome that was announced.

Dear journalism students,

I admit that I am not a journalist myself. In fact, I am a Pundit…The Pundit’s Pundit to be exact. The title is a call out to today’s pundits who build their on-screen, or online, opinions based on how many clicks they can generate. They are too fearful to get criticism from online mobs, or too fearful to listen to a contrasting opinion that might start a real dialogue.

The same has happened to journalism.

The title of this letter is an ode to an old-school journalist by the name of Frank Reynolds. When President Reagan was shot, his press secretary James Brady was shot also. The initial report from all three networks was that Brady had died, and when Reynolds found out it wasn’t true, he went off on the air.

“LET’S GET IT NAILED DOWN…LET’S GET IT RIGHT”

Numerous mainstream media outlets, all with varying philosophies and narratives, all prove we’re not getting it right.

People are more fueled by emotion than ever. A huge subset of people root for the assassination of the leader of the free world, no matter which party, which would cause a worldwide meltdown. Physical assaults, threats, and doxxing occurs when we bring up the truths we all learned in grade school. A global virus was used for blame and not solutions. What is supposed to bring us together keeps tearing us apart.

Ask yourselves these questions. Why are journalists held hostage by millions of Twitter feeds that average about eighty followers? Why are journalists held hostage by the QWERTY keyboard mob…a mob that keeps adding more letters or symbols depending on which special interest group shells out the cash? How did the simple knowledge of how the immune system works become the enemy? How did victimhood become a currency? Why is wealth evil instead of teaching everyone how money works?

Most of all…why does Donald Trump anger people?

I think I know why.

Donald Trump is the loud, arrogant caricature of every establishment politician and journalist that had the ability to hide their true selves till eight years ago. He arrogance is louder, his lies are louder. They are angry and aren’t even trying to hide their true intentions. That’s not just the opposing party…it’s his party also.

One party hates him because he brought a voter bloc back they didn’t want to have to win over again, and the other hates him because it’s 2023 and he runs a 1986 campaign.

I make these points because it’s up to all of you to bring journalism back, and you have to do it by creating your own independent source. Ben Shapiro did his job with Daily Wire, Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian did theirs with Young Turks, Bari Weiss left the New York Times to create FP(Free Press). It’s the way to go. New York Times is dead, Washington Post died in darkness, CNN’s got one foot in the grave, and even FOX can’t get ad revenue that isn’t assisted living facilities, gold, or reverse mortgages.

You are all the future because of one word.

Truth. Not YOUR truth, not social media’s truth.

Truth.

You will get that truth in two ways.

  1. A little extra elbow grease.
  2. Allow dialogue with EVERYONE

Number two is important. I’m not talking about violent radicals because they are usually found on Craigslist and paid by a really wealthy radical we rarely see. I’m saying the everyday people, wealthy or poor, liberal or conservative, that have to contribute to this society through paying taxes, sending their kids to schools, dealing with local government, etc.

Again, Twitter isn’t real life.

And as far as Trump goes, if you want to get him, you can’t have a dog in the fight, and you certainly can’t hate him. He feeds off that emotion better than anyone else. You have to understand what he is and how his mind works. First step is understanding he’s a human being…a narcissistic human being, an arrogant human being, but still a human being. CNN and MSNBC treats him like a cartoonish 80s WWF bad guy, and FOX and Breitbart treats him like the second coming of Jesus.

He’s human. Start there and work your way up. You will make a lot more headway.

Sincerely,

The Pundit’s Pundit

Za’Darius Smith recently got traded from the Minnesota Vikings to the Cleveland Browns. I’ll give you my quick analysis for both teams.

Minnesota came away with two fifth round picks in the process. Those two fifth round picks could be used to move up in a future draft to get the coveted franchise quarterback. With Za’Darius Smith publicly thanking Skol Nation on 3/9/2023, you can assume he was ready to move on.

With the addition of Marcus Davenport, you can assume that he would take on the new role on the opposite side of Danielle Hunter to have similar or better production because of his youth.

The Vikings improved their draft assets while giving up a 6 and a 7 in the process for a player who didn’t want to play for the Vikings again under the terms of the 2022 offseason. Smith was a great addition to the Vikings who gave us the pass rush that we needed to apply pressure.

Smith ended up being a one-trick pony for the Vikings who eventually lost his production towards the second half of the season. This move kind of reminds me of the Yannick Ngakoue trade from three years ago.

The Vikings got Ngakoue from the Jaguars in 2020 in exchange for a 2 and a 5.

Ngakoue took any trade he can get to get out of Jacksonville. During the season the Vikings traded Ngakoue to Baltimore as it appeared that he didn’t want to be in Minnesota either. Cleveland is entering the unknown of what they would be getting in Smith.

One thing the Cleveland Browns have going for them currently is Myles Garrett which is one of the few draft choices that Cleveland got right in their recent drafting history.

Smith is enough of a threat to provide pass rushing help on the opposite side of the ball.

With another former Viking Dalvin Tomlinson joining the Browns on a four-year deal, the Browns are getting former Vikings to join the defense in Cleveland.

How will new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz use his new acquired pass rusher remains to be seen, thanks to the lack of draft capital in the draft, thanks to DeShaun Watson, Cleveland looked to other avenues to improve their upcoming defense for 2023.

With a fully healthy Smith the defense should improve, however his production fell off the second half of 2022. Smith missing the 2021 regular season due to injury may still have question marks but trading only two 5th round picks is a low risk cost to receive potential Pro Bowl production.

Now that Smith is a Brown let’s look at a few things.

Smith started his NFL career as a member of the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens and Browns happen to be division rivals. After his initial departure from Baltimore, he signs with Green Bay and had success in Green Bay.

After his Green Bay departure, he eventually found his way in Minnesota, who is a division rival of Green Bay. Did Za’Darius sign with the Vikings only to stick it to the Packers and sack Aaron Rodgers?

What was his initial motive to sign with the Vikings we’ll never know. However, the one year he was with the Vikings led to a successful regular season record of 13-4. Now that he is with a rival of another former team of his, apparently Za’Darius holds grudges against his former teams.

For the Vikings I’d give this trade a B-. They got value for a player who didn’t want to be apart of the future with the Minnesota Vikings under the terms of his current contract.

For the Browns I’d give this trade a B to a B+. They got pass rushing help as Myles Garrett can’t do it alone, however which version of Za’Darius are the getting is a wait and see process.

With what is the equivalent of an early Christmas gift to fans in the 2023 NFL schedule release, fans, teams and players now know where they will be playing, when and most importantly who. That being said, travel plans are already being made by all parties.

Below is INSCMagazine’s top ten best matchups picked by us and our partners at Sideline Sports and Geary, Stein and Stephens.

Enjoy!

1.) Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs (Week 11): In what was a classic Super Bowl, these two teams highlight what may be a special season and growing rivalry. The shared history of former coach Dick Vermeil, plus some unfinished business from a revamped Eagles squad marching into Arrowhead should make some some fireworks.

2.) Cincinnati Bengals vs. Kansas City Chiefs (Week 17): Let’s call this the Burrowhead Rivalry Game. While Cincinnati is the one team that seems to have the Chiefs number, Kansas City came through when it counted and added another Lombardi. Joe Burrow vs. Patrick Mahomes is the new Manning-Brady rivalry of our time.

3.) Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets (Week 1): The debut of the Aaron Rodgers era in Gotham on 9/11 is not lost by many at all, in what will be a highly charged and intense atmosphere at Met Life. You have a determined Bills team that fell short vs. Cincinnati and an MVP candidate in Josh Allen going head to head vs one of the all-time greats in a prime-time classic.

4.) Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets (Black Friday): With the NFL proving to be the master’s of market and scheduling once again, The Shield flexes their muscle in pairing two longtime AFC East rivals in their first-ever Black Friday game. Not quite the ol’ Ken O’Brien-Dan Marino shootouts of yesteryear, A-Rod vs. Tua should prove to be a dandy!

5.) New York Jets vs. New York Giants (Week 8): Yes! This is higher up than a lot of the other games, but when is the last time you hear and see BOTH NYC-area teams in the spotlight as playoff contenders at the same time? You have Aaron Rodgers vs. Daniel Jones going head-to-head in the NFL’s home base and largest media market. The ratings are going to be F-I-R-E!

6.) Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals (Week 9): The Game That Was Never Finished. With the shocked near-death of Damar Hamlin and the cancellation of last year’s pivotal game, this year, it’ll be in the same place with the same two teams, who would both be in the middle of the playoffs.

7.) Miami Dolphins vs. Los Angeles Chargers (Week 1): What many once thought was a mistake by the Dolphins is selecting Tua Tagovailoa over Justin Herbert is beginning to shift. While there are some lingering concussion concerns over Tagovaila, no one can overlook a breakout year for the former Alabama QB. If Tua can stay healthy, then Miami is a legit Super Bowl contender.

For the Chargers, this may be it for embattled head coach Brandon Staley, who needs Herbert and his high-powered offense to come out of the gate hot in a loaded QB division that has Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson and Jimmy Garrapolo

8.) San Francisco 49ers vs. Philadelphia Eagles (Week 13): Jalen Hurts vs. Brock Purdy—or Trey Lance?—Guess we will find out in this NFC title game rematch back in Philly.

9.) Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys (Weeks 9 and 14): Both teams don’t like each other. Both fan bases loathe each other. Both have a long-standing grudge and unbridled hate for the other. Eagles-Cowboys is the NFL’s ultimate version of petty with some WWE drama and flair. Let’s go!

10.) Houston Texans vs. Carolina Panthers (Week 8): Bryce Young vs. CJ Stroud. Both former rivals from SoCal. Both Heisman Trophy finalists and now both are faces of their own franchises. Forever linked as 1-2 in their draft class.

Major League Baseball needed a feel good story and got one with the Major League debut of Drew Maggi of the Pittsburgh Pirates today.

With the season less than a month old there have been several big stories that have drawn the ire of fans. One was the recent announcement of a binding agreement between the Oakland Athletics and the city of Las Vegas to purchase land to build a ballpark, Max Scherzer being suspended 10 games for using a foreign substance, Juan Soto struggling with the San Diego Padres, new rule changes, and attendance issues with a number of teams including the San Francisco Giants setting a record for lowest attendance since Oracle Park opened in 2000.

So Maggi has become a blessing in disguise for baseball. He has spent 13 seasons in the minor leagues and played 1,155 games, before getting an at-bat tonight. He came out swinging too, as he fouled off a pitch, though with the new rules got called for not being in the box, and struck out swinging on a ball in the dirt.

Also, Maggi when it is all said and done, gets to tell the story how in his first major league at-bat he pinch hit for Pirates legend, Andrew McCutchen. The reaction at PNC Park was amazing, as he received a standing ovation. Fans were also chanting his name “Maggi, Maggi, Maggi” throughout the at-bat.

Reactions on social media showed how great and inspiring the moment was.

Robert’s Rant! KANSAS CITY, MO – With the 2023 NFL Draft roughly 72 hours away, there are many unexpected things that can happen between now and when Roger Goodell steps on the stage. With it being silly season and teams throwing up smokescreens, here is my pre-draft mock, via Pro Football Network’s simulator before heading off to KC!

As stated, the 2023 NFL Draft opens with a bang as I have four quarterbacks going in the top five with 2021 Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young going to Carolina with the first pick overall, followed by CJ Stroud going to Houston at No.2, Will Levis going fourth to the Indianapolis Colts and Anthony Richardson going to Seattle at No.5

Picks 6-10, I see Detroit going CB after trading Jeff Okudah to the Falcons, and facing the likes of Justin Fields, Kirk Cousins and Jordan Love twice a year. Witherspoon makes the most sense. Same thing about Gonzalez going to a pass-happy division that has reigning Super Bowl MVP in Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson and Sean Payton and Justin Herbert.

Yes, I know Robinson at No.8 to the forementioned Falcons is a reach, but Atlanta needs a feature tailback to take the pressure off of whomever is under center. Jalen Carter slides all the way down to No.10 in Philadelphia, reunited with former UGA teammate,

Picks 11-15 is a bit of a cluster bomb as You have Tennessee needing to supplement Jaylen Burks on the outside–as well as properly replace AJ Brown–in giving soon-to-be free agent Ryan Tannehill another target to throw to. No.12 is where could get very interesting, depending on what Houston decides to do. Do they give Stroud/Young a target to throw to, or do they decide to fortify the line for current QB in Davis Mills? Aside from New England snatching up a falling Tyree Wilson, pay attention to picks No.13 and No.15. Dont be shocked if these are made as part of the pending Rodgers move to Gotham City.

But for now, I have Gang Green giving Rodgers–or whoever–some help up front in OT Paris Johnson Jr. and the Acme Packing Company selecting WR Quentin Johnston to help our Jordan Love.

Picks 16-20 is where the draft could really get interesting as we have arguably the biggest shocker of the draft in former Tennessee Vols standout Hendon Hooker. While these may be a surprise to many, Hooker has a high ceiling and more potential upside than Sam Howell, and unless the Commanders want to tank from DMV native in 2022 Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams, then they should take a chance on the former Virginia Tech graduate transfer. Porter Jr. to Pittsburgh is both a good fit and a legacy selection as Junior gets to wear the same storied uniform as his two-time Super Bowl champion dad.

Don’t look now, but Detroit is putting together a nasty defensive line, anchored by Aidan Hutchinson on one side and a sliding Nolan Smith on the other. That after picking Witherspoon to hold down the back end, and the Lions could become the new kings of the NFC North.

Picks 21-25 could see a heavy run on edge rushers and DB’s starting with the Chargers selecting Cam Smith out of South Carolina. With a division that is loaded with Mahomes, Wilson and Garrapolo, you can never have enough defensive backs. Baltimore losing DE Calais Campbell enables the Ravens to select an under-the-radar edge rusher in Adebawore. Once again, the Ravens are true masters of the draft! The Vikings nab a potential sleeper pick in former Iowa State edge rusher early, but in the era of hunting the QB, you can never have enough pass rushers to chase down Justin Fields, Jared Goff and Jordan Love.

Picks 26-30 is highlighted by the Cowboys selecting Zeke’s replacement in Alabama tailback Jahmyr Gibbs to pair with Tony Pollard down in Big D. While there is an outside chance that Elliott could come back to the Cowboys on a veteran minimum deal, Gibbs lands in a good spot in Dallas. Buffalo nabs their Tremaine Edmunds replacement in Clemson LB Trenton Simpson at No.27, the Bengals take care of Joey B in nabbing arguably one of the top tight ends in former Oregon State star, Luke Musgrave. The Saints give Derek Carr some help up front in nabbing Florida gators guard O’Cyrus Torrence and the Eagles keep playing chess while the league is playing checkers in grabbing Kansas State EDGE Felix Anudike-Uzomah.

Last but certainly not least, the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs nab Boston College Eagles WR Zay Flowers to replace Juju Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman. Shifty, agile and quick, Flowers is a perfect fit in Andy Reid’s system and should make an immediate impact in 2023.

OWINGS MILLS, MD – Thanks to former Super Bowl champion wideout Odell Beckham Jr. signing a one-year $18 million deal, with $15 million guaranteed, does this help the Baltimore Ravens in bringing back disgruntled QB Lamar Jackson?

Jackson, who has refused to play for the franchise after failing to come to an agreement on a contract extension, has been hit with the non-exclusive tag, thus allowing a team to negotiate a new deal with the 2019 NFL MVP.

If a team is able to agree to terms with Jackson, then they would surrender two first-round picks for the former Louisville Cardinal’s services.

Without question, it has been the biggest headline during the entire off-season, as Jackson is self-representing himself, and does not have an agent. 45-16 as a starting QB, Jackson is easily a top ten quarterback due to his dual threat abilities as a runner and a passer.

However, Jackson has missed 10 regular season games over the last two seasons due to knee and ankle injuries, causing prospective teams to worry about his durability, causing many to balk at his demands of a new deal in excess of the controversial $230 million fully guaranteed contract Deshaun Watson got from the AFC North rival Cleveland Browns.

Jackson’s argument isn’t helped by Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts and his recent five-year $255 million extension with $179.3 million guaranteed, making him the richest player in NFL history.

If Baltimore signing a player 24 months removed from hoisting the Lombardi, and who immediately upgrades a rather pedestrian wide receiver corps isn’t a sign that the Ravens are trying to help Lamar, then Jackson seriously needs to grow up, swallow his pride and get ready for Week 1.

Yes, Hurts is not quite on the same level as Jackson, but the NFL is a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately, and sadly in the case of Jackson, he hasn’t done much to justify the Ravens caving in to his demands.
